HSYC In The News Humane Society donations rise By Erin Gladden Fort Mill Times (Published October 10 2002) - FORT MILL TOWNSHIP--The Humane Society of York County's recent media blitz is beginning to pay off. Recent articles in different newspapers throughout York and surrounding counties, including the Fort Mill Times, has resulted in donations from many concerned citizens for the non-profit shelter in Fort Mill. "It's encouraging to see that the people of our county are coming forward in an effort to help the abused and unwanted animals in our county who can't speak for themselves," said Janet Richardson, the Humane Society's development director. While the donations are helping, there is still more money to be raised, according to Richardson. "It's helping us to pay the bills," she said, "but not necessarily to do the spay-neuter clinic." Richardson has also put out a plea to area hospitals and doctors offices to donate supplies for the spay-neuter clinic. Despite the fact that the Humane Society still has a long way to go, things are looking up. Donations are up from this time last year--something Richardson views as good news. "That's encouraging," she said. "That means there's awareness." Individuals wishing to donate to the Humane Society may mail their donations to 2036 Carolina Place, Fort Mill, SC 29708 to the attention of the Development Director. For more information, call the Humane Society of York County at 802-0902. |
