HSYC In The News

Press Release

I sit back and listen to the people of Charlotte, Mecklenburg, York county residents and animal control regarding many animal issues.
I hear things like:

  • We need to work on animal cruelty
  • We need more NO KILL shelters
  • We need a bigger building for animal control
  • We need to financially support animal groups
  • We need to get the Magistrates to issue warrants for abused animals
  • We need to clarify our laws.

Everyone wants to help the animals in many ways. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO BEGIN THIS PROCESS. A FULL TIME AFFORDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC!

Without stopping the problems before they start, we will never achieve any of the various goals that people have. The Humane Society of York County can take animals in provide health care and adopt them out but… How many can I help? There are animals more out there that need help than is physically or monetary possible. We need a few big sponsors for a clinic. The money we receive is tax deductible and we are non-profit. So what's the problem???? People just don't get it. Some people want to help the existing animals and that is a wonderful thing but what about decreasing the need for these services that we all are concerned about.

Short Story
1. A nice person has two cats come to their house and they feed them.
2. They can't afford to spay and neutered.
3. Months later they multiply.
4. Nice person can't afford to feed them all.
5. They can go on a shelter waiting list or the can turn them over to animal control and almost certain death.

There can only be one logical answer. Let's get together as a community and get this much needed spay/neuter program up and running. We are willing to take on the project!! What is the our community, our businesses, our adoption groups, our Vets and our animal control willing to do to help? Can you donate time, money, expertise, equipment, and media?
